Comeback falls short

? After falling behind 10-2 through six innings, the Kansas University baseball team staged a wild comeback, putting the tying run at the plate in both the eighth and ninth innings before falling to Illinois, 11-9, Wednesday at the Florida Spring Classic at IMG Academy Field.

KU senior Casey Larson went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, while John Allman drove in three runs, but it was not enough for the Jayhawks to earn a victory.

Illinois scored seven runs in the first four innings and held on to improve to 6-5 on the season. The Jayhawks fell to 11-8.

Because of flight complications Tuesday, KU was playing without 12 members of its team in the game. Storms in the Dallas area forced the team to split up.

Kansas will look to rebound today against Dartmouth at 9:30 a.m. and Central Connecticut State at 12:30 p.m.
