St. Patrick’s Day Parade will go on as scheduled

Decked out in St. Patrick's Day greenery, Jennifer Ostronic and her husband, Phil, stroll down Massachusetts Street in the late morning in anticipation of the parade scheduled for 1 p.m. in downtown Lawrence. Despite the rain, the parade is slated to continue rain or shine.

You can’t rain on this parade. Despite the wet weather, the 20th annual Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day parade will take place as scheduled, beginning at 1 p.m.

The forecast calls for periods of showers and moderate rain, but the threat of severe weather is low, according to 6News Chief Meteorologist Jennifer Schack.

The parade route goes from South Park, north along Massachusetts street over the Kansas River to 2nd and Locust. It then goes east on Locust to 9th street and ends at the Flamingo Club.
