The $33,665,068 Kansas University educational and general operating budget recommended Jan. 11 by Gov. Robert Docking was approved by the Kansas Legislature. It was part of a total of $127,200,912 approved for all the regents universities.

County and city officials were to confer again on prospects for a second bridge over the Kansas River at Lawrence. Most agreed the span was badly needed and that the existing bridge was deteriorating rapidly.
