The Padres beat an Arizona Diamondbacks split squad 6-3 on Friday in Peoria, Ariz.
Young faced the minimum nine batters in his three innings.
Young’s wife, Liz, gave birth Tuesday to the couple’s first child, Catherine Elizabeth.
