Stephen May, Lawrence, will receive his Eagle Scout award at a Court of Honor at 7 p.m. today at Christ Community Church, 1100 Kasold.

May, 18, the son of Cecilia May, Lawrence, and Ernie May, Tonganoxie, is a senior at Veritas Christian School. He is a member of Troop 53, chartered by Christ Community Church.

For his Eagle project, May last summer planned and directed the construction by fellow Scouts of a landscaped outdoor study and eating area at Veritas Christian School, with picnic tables that have been in use there during the current school year.

May is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, and served as Senior Patrol Leader. He attended Camp Alexander in Colorado with Troop 53 three times. He went on two treks through Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He attended Florida Sea Base in the Florida Keys and the Teton High Adventure Camp.

At Veritas Christian School, May has lettered in cheerleading, football, basketball and golf, and has served on the Student Council. He has been active with the Youth of Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He had a Lawrence Journal-World paper delivery route for three years, continuing a family tradition begun and sustained by an older brother, Paul May, also an Eagle Scout, and a sister, Rebecca May, a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient.
