Patterson, Paris honored

? Kansas State’s Deb Patterson was chosen as the Big 12 coach of the year Friday after leading the Wildcats from last place to the conference championship.

Oklahoma center Courtney Paris, the nation’s top rebounder, repeated as the conference’s player of the year and defensive player of the year while teammate Danielle Robinson was voted Big 12 freshman of the year.

Texas Tech’s Dominic Seals won newcomer of the year, and Texas A&M guard Morenike Atunrase was recognized as the league’s top bench player.

Guards Kimberly Dietz and Shalee Lehning represented the Wildcats on the 10-player all-Big 12 first team. Other selections included Paris, Big 12 scoring leader Andrea Riley of Oklahoma State, Rachel Allison and Angela Tisdale of Baylor, Jackie McFarland of Colorado, Kelsey Griffin of Nebraska, and Texas A&M’s Danielle Gant and Takia Starks.
