From the Lawrence Daily World for March 4, 1908: “The big Sutton Farm sale of pedigreed Berkshire hogs is going on today at the farm near here. Purchasers are from around the nation and it appears the sale will be highly successful with the local economy getting assistance from the visitors, many of them wealthy. : There is growing evidence of ‘machine politics’ taking hold in Topeka and so far there is not evidence that anyone can stop the ‘Bun’ Adams campaigns. The Long machine will be difficult to derail, it appears.”
