Missouri nightclub closes

? The downtown nightclub where Missouri’s leading scorer suffered a broken jaw in a scuffle with two restaurant workers has closed down, according to a letter the owner sent to city officials.

In a letter dated Feb. 21, Athena Nightclub owner Rashid A. Kikhia said he “is no longer operating a nightclub” and is in the process of “reorganizing the business on all levels, including management, cooks, delivery drivers and servers.”

Missouri basketball players Stefhon Hannah and Jason Horton got in a fight outside the nightclub on Jan. 27 with two employees of an adjacent restaurant owned by Kikhia. Hannah had complained about poor service.

He was kicked off the team, while Horton served a brief suspension but continues to play for the Tigers.

Both players later were charged with third-degree misdemeanor assault and were scheduled to appear in Boone County court Monday for an arraignment, though their attorneys waived the procedure.
