Nashville, Tenn, Shaeffer Hall pitched seven shutout innings, while Preston Land helped the Kansas University offense back him up, as KU's baseball team flummoxed Xavier, 12-4, Saturday.
After a rough start in his Jayhawk debut, in which he lasted just three innings, Hall dominated the Xavier lineup. The transfer from Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Mo., scattered four hits over seven innings, striking out four and walking one.
Land went 4-for-5 with two home runs, two doubles and five RBIs, setting career highs for hits and RBIs.
The Jayhawks improved to 3-5 on the season will play Iowa today, the final day of the Music City Classic. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m.
