Plan chill-proof outfits for children for extra-early easter date

Easter is early this year, but that doesn't necessarily mean children have to wear their heavy winter coats. Shown above is a hooded cardigan by Lucky Jade.

The picture-perfect moment of children in their Easter best probably takes many more moments of compromise.

With Easter falling on March 23, kids’ outfits will have to be both photoworthy and chill-ready. Here’s how to make it work:

¢ Try leggings under dresses.

Leggings have eliminated what was a regular battle over tights that feel too tight or too loose, too itchy or not warm enough. Also try similarly colored socks paired with leggings.

It helps that teen stars like Hannah Montana and even the Hannah Montana dolls wear leggings. Hopefully she won’t adopt a mismatched look or bare legs anytime soon.

¢ Speaking of Disney properties, some kids can’t get enough of their favorite characters and want to wear them on their clothes everyday. If that’s a problem on a special day in your house, Disney Store is working on a compromise.

In its latest collection are items with subtle character references, such as a toile print that features the princesses, says Amy Hauk, senior vice president and general merchandise manager of Disney Store. From a distance, you see the classic toile style; up close you see Cinderella.

“You have to make it a wink so the kid knows and the mom is OK with it,” Hauk says.
