Army Spc. Cecil Lee Parker has returned to Alaska after being deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The soldier is assigned to the 725th Brigade Support Battalion, a subordinate unit of the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division at Fort Richardson, Anchorage.

In addition, Spc. Parker has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal. The medal is awarded to individuals who, while serving in any capacity with the Army, have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism, meritorious achievement or service.

The specialist also has been awarded with the Combat Action Badge.

Parker, a paratrooper, has served in the military for four years.
