A sinkhole in the East Hills Business Park grew in girth during the weekend. First reported at approximately 3 feet wide on Saturday, the hole was at least 5 feet wide by Sunday.

“It looks like it might end up going across the whole road,” said Lorri Coleman, who works at Amarr Garage Doors, 3800 Greenway Circle, and has watched the nearby sinkhole grow. “I’m just afraid.”

The hole is between the 3700 and 3800 blocks of Greenway Circle, in the business park east of Lawrence off Kansas Highway 10. The city has placed barricades around the hole, and it is expected to be fixed today.
