Peoples Bank sets celebration for Monday

Peoples Bank will celebrate the grand opening of its third financial center in Lawrence with a flag-raising ceremony and bank tours Monday morning at the new place, at the northwest corner of 31st and Iowa streets.

The new bank, 3045 Iowa St., has six employees, drive-through lanes and an indoor waterfall featuring a carved-in-limestone Jayhawk. Katrina Scott is store manager.

At 7:30 a.m. Monday, members of the American Legion are scheduled to lead a flag-raising ceremony, and Whitney Juneau – a voice major at Kansas University, and daughter of bank employee Judy Juneau – will sing the national anthem.

Maley Wilkins, Peoples president for the Lawrence market, said that the new branch was an appropriate way to celebrate the company’s nearly 11 years of banking in town.

“We’re really excited about the location, and making it easier for our guests to bank with us,” Wilkins said.
