From the Lawrence Daily World for June 28, 1908: “What is perhaps the most powerful aggregation of athletes ever brought together is assembled in New York and will sail tomorrow for the Olympic Games in London. The United States is best-known for its track and field stars. After the Games the Irish-Americans on the team will travel to Scotland for a dual meet with Scots.”
