Clinton supporters back Obama, poll says

June 27, 2008

— Barack Obama has won over more than half of Hillary Rodham Clinton's former supporters, according to an Associated Press-Yahoo News poll that finds party loyalty trumping hard feelings less than three weeks after their bruising Democratic presidential contest ended.

The poll suggests time is beginning to heal some rifts from the primary campaign and that the New York senator's endorsement of Obama carried weight. The poll was taken in the days after Clinton suspended her campaign and said she was supporting her rival.

Obama's progress with Clinton supporters is marked, yet far from complete. More than one in five who had backed the New York senator now plan to support Republican John McCain in the fall, a boost for McCain if those opinions hold.

Obama's outreach to Clinton supporters picks up this week. Clinton introduced Obama to her financial backers Thursday night in Washington (see story on page 7A), and the two will campaign together for the first time today in New Hampshire.

again the mainstream media trying so hard to cover, twists the facts to give a distorted headline. actually, the headline should be:20% of Hillary's supporters say they will vote for McCain, historic disgruntlement"this is a startling high figure, and the ap/mainstream media trying so hard to burry the lead! this is huge compared to other dem primary losers' supporters in the past. Dean's supporters who voted for GWB? there's my point. how many deaniacs voted for GWB??? probably less than 5%! here you have 20% of hillaroids saying they'll vote for McCain! in some of the last democrat primary exit polls, democrat voters majority said:Obama is less than truthful;Obama shares some of rev. wright's beliefs. there are many very angry Hillaroids out there. very angry.
