Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for June 26, 1908: “All the necessary petitions for elective office have been turned in and only half of the local offices are to be contested. : The World has been notified that another of William Quantrill’s bloody raiders here has died. He is Lee B. McMurtry, 66, who died in Fort Worth, Texas. He also rode with the Youngers and the James boys, had to flee to Mexico and later was a sheriff in Texas. There once was a reward of $10,000 for his capture or killing.”
