Lawrence in severe thunderstorm watch
A severe thunderstorm watch will continue in effect for Douglas county through 1 a.m. Friday.
The National Weather Service advised severe thunderstorms capable of a producing large hail and damaging winds are possible throughout the northeast, north central and east central parts of Kansas tonight
Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist, said, “Thunderstorms have remained to the west of us through the early evening and that will continue through for the next couple of hours. Lawrence might see some light rain, and close lightning to the west, but no strong storms are expected through the late evening.
“Storms to the west have been producing large hail up to 2.5 inches in size and winds in excess of 60 mph. They will continue diving south through the late evening. “
