Rockets fired at Israel shake truce

June 25, 2008

— Palestinian militants fired three homemade rockets into southern Israel on Tuesday, threatening to unravel a cease-fire days after it began, and Israel responded by closing vital border crossings into Gaza.

Despite what it called a "gross violation" of the truce, Israel refrained from military action and said it would send an envoy soon to Egypt to work on the next stage of a broader cease-fire agreement: a prisoner swap that would bring home an Israeli soldier held by Hamas for more than two years.

Hamas, the militant Islamic group that rules Gaza, promised to rein in the Iran- and Syria-backed faction that carried out the rocket attacks and pledged to remain committed to the truce that went into effect June 19 and urged restraint by all sides.

The difference is Israel doesn't target civilians, the Palestinians do.

Interesting Beo, that you refer to the Israeli government as terrorists, but did not refer to the Palestinian governemnt as terrorists. As far as the Israeli government being the problem with obtaining any peace, that would lead me to believe that you think that only the destruction of Israel will bring peace as you see it.

So I was wondering, why would bozo be reading a Lebanese newspaper? Then I saw the pop-up ad, "Arab girls for love and marriage" and it all became clear.(Just kidding, Mr. Bus)

Until you bring the Israeli terrorists AKA, the government, under control there will be no peace.. They are the the problem with obtaining any peace.

"Rockets do seem to be a problem over there."The pun was intended.

"Reward terrorism with death,"That's exactly what the Palestinians were trying to do with the rockets they launched in response to the assassinations. They failed to kill anybody, but almost certainly Israel will respond by attempting to murder more Palestinians, and the Palestinians will then attempt to murder more Israelis. But you'll get the tit-for-tat terrorism you love so much, screed.

"Apparently it takes a rocket scientist..."Rockets do seem to be a problem over there.

"the immediate effect of the assassinations would be to respond to violence with more violence"Well sure, in hindsight. The effect of killing PIJ leaders should be rejoicing, but it's not, hence the continual deterioration of the Palestinian Arabs.Rightly so. Reward terrorism with death, and it might stop some century.

well that didn't take very long. What was the line last week on the post about how long the truce would last?

just_another_bozo_on_this_bus 5 years, 10 months ago

Apparently it takes a rocket scientist to know that regardless of whether it's included in the truce, the immediate effect of the assassinations would be to respond to violence with more violence, and voila, no more truce.Clearly, screed, you're no rocket scientist.

Screed, BOZO will rant his leftist garbage no matter what the facts are, so it is useless to point out facts to a person that is such a political zealot.

"do you think that when Israel was deciding whether or not to assassinate these guys they considered what effect it would have on the truce?"They probably thought it would have no effect on the truce because, to quote your article:"Israeli troops killed a senior Islamic Jihad fighter and another young man in the northern town of Nablus in the Occupied West Bank, which was not included in the truce."in the northern town of Nablus in the Occupied West Bank, which was not included in the truce.Occupied West Bank, which was not included in the truce.which was not included in the truce.not includednot

And gee, do you think that when Israel was deciding whether or not to assassinate these guys they considered what effect it would have on the truce? Of course they did, and it pretty clearly demonstrates that Israel doesn't want a truce.

"That is only half the story-"Gee, thanks to you we now have 3/4 of the story. Here's the other 1/4:"Israeli troops killed a senior Islamic Jihad fighter and another young man in the northern town of Nablus in the Occupied West Bank, which was not included in the truce."in the northern town of Nablus in the Occupied West Bank, which was not included in the truce.Occupied West Bank, which was not included in the truce.which was not included in the truce.not includednot

That is only half the story--"The truce between Hamas and Israel faced its most severe test yet on Tuesday after the Jewish state assassinated two members of Islamic Jihad in the Occupied West Bank and the group retaliated by launching a pair of rockets from the Gaza Strip."http://www.dailystar.com.lb/article.asp?edition_id=10&categ_id=2&article_id=93491
