From the Lawrence Daily World for June 25, 1908: “The tax levy in the city this year will be very close to 11.5 mills and that of the county outside the city will be a little over 8 mills. : The law calls for elimination of all thistles but it appears many have not been doing what they should to controls such noxious weeds. : State officials have issued new reports on the state’s growing crops and all evidence is that the production will be at least average and perhaps good.”
