From the Lawrence Daily World for June 23, 1908: “Large gatherings are attending meetings designed to find ways to minimize and even eliminate the kind of flooding that has occurred in the entire region of late. Lawrence was inundated the worst since the record 1903 flood and there is an earnest desire to alter conditions that allow such devastation. : Haskell Institute next year will celebrate its 25th anniversary and already big plans are being made to make the celebration outstanding. It will be the biggest event in the history of the school.”
