Heavy rains throughout the area have forced a delay in the opening of the new Tonganoxie water park.

The pool’s grand opening has been pushed back until the first of July. City Administrator Michael Yanez said over the next two weeks the construction efforts will consist of putting on the finishing touches.

“What’s left to do is primarily the landscaping as much as the placement of sod and planting some shrubs and other types of plants in the area,” Yanez said. “We also need to do some additional retaining wall work and put up the permanent fencing.”
