Law enforcement report

¢ A Kansas City-area man was rescued from Clinton Lake on Sunday after his 16-foot recreational boat was swamped, said Joe Hoelscher, division chief for Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical.

The man was on the south side of the lake when winds hit suddenly, Hoelscher said. Water came over the side of the boat, and it was too much for a pump to keep up with, Hoelscher said. The man used a cell phone to call for assistance shortly before 1 p.m. He was retrieved and did not require medical attention. Hoelscher said the man had a life preserver with him.
