By James Cravens

Go there again,
Whenever necessary.
That special place.
The way you remember.
The same small pond.
A scattering of lotus.
The willow tree
And tall cool grass.

Sit in that same spot
At the water's edge.
Feel the cane pole in your hands.

Lie back in the grass.
The sun is warm.
Feel yourself drift.

Close your eyes, ears, and mind.
Absolutely oblivious
As reality explodes around you.

- James Cravens lives in Lawrence.
