Braxton Nottingham, Lawrence, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2008 semester at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.

To be named to the dean’s list, students must earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

¢Adam Davis received the Samuel Mellinger Scholarship, Leadership and Service Award at the Kansas University School of Law hooding ceremony on May 18.

Davis was executive note and comment editor of the Kansas Law Review and participated in the law school’s moot court competition. He was a member of the KU Law Moot Court Council and was active in the Catholic Law Students organization. Davis also volunteered in the tax preparation program.

He is a Lawrence High School graduate and the son of Jackie Davis, New York City, and Mike and Faye Davis, Lake Quivira.

¢Meaghan and Paul May, Ruskin, Fla., announce the birth of their daughter, Austen Amelia May, born May 21, 2008, at Brandon Regional Hospital, Brandon, Fla.

Her maternal grandparents are Lynn and Bill O’Sullivan, Kansas City, Mo.

Her paternal grandparents are Cecilia May, Lawrence, and Ernie May, Tonganoxie.

Her great-grandparents are Mrs. Ed Jecha, Timken, Mrs. Ray A. Oliver, St. Louis, and Mr. and Mrs. Martin May, Oberlin.

¢Rachel McCarthy James, Lawrence, graduated magna cum laude with departmental honors on May 18 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and political science from Hollins University in Roanoke, Va. She was also named to honor roll for the spring 2008 semester for earning a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

She is a graduate of Free State High School and the daughter of Susan McCarthy and Bill James.

¢Chelsea Chaffin, Lawrence, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in social work, summa cum laude, from Bethel College in North Newton.

She is the daughter of Chris Chaffin and the late Franci Zender Chaffin and the granddaughter of Paul and Sandra Zinder, Jerry Chaffin and Ronnie Lana, all of Lawrence.
