The Lawrence Jaycees' annual Fourth of July fireworks show will move to Sesquicentennial Point, which is at the north end of the Clinton Dam, north of the spillway.

The event was changed from Burcham Park because of concerns about overcrowding and safety, organizers said.

Gates will open at 8 p.m., and the fireworks show will start at 10 p.m. It is expected to last 30 to 45 minutes.

take it out where no one in Lawrence can see it , add a couple gallons of gas usage for each car , the destruction of the fourth of July in lawrence is now complete !

Why move it? Why change such a great tradition? Now people can't walk to it and parking out there is terrible. I'm sorry we'll be missing it this year.

this is bs from the beginning.first they take forth of july away from lawrence residents, then they take the fireworks display clear out of lawrence, maybe they should just donate to perry's display.our city council needs a major overhaul, clearly they don't stand for the people of lawrence.
