From the Lawrence Daily World for June 9, 1908: “The coming Democratic convention in Denver promises to have more women in attendance than at any previous party convention since many will attend with their husbands. Also, Colorado is a women’s suffrage state. : The rain-swollen Kaw River has begun to drop and fell more than a foot at Topeka by noon today. North Lawrence had the usual flooding and in some places the water was as much as three feet deep. Some were displaced.”
