From the Lawrence Daily World for June 2, 1908: “The school board last night elected teachers for practically all positions in the city schools, granting pay increases to all but a very few. The total increase amounts to about $2,500 a year for the board to pay. Most teachers got $2.50 more per month, a few got as much as $10 and some as much as $20 more.”
