Henrickson Tourney: Kansas University women's basketball coach Bonnie Henrickson's annual golf fundraiser will be Aug. 16 at Alvamar. ¢ Ace for Par: Kelli Brahler recorded an unusual hole-in-one using a five-wood on the 139-yard No. 11 hole at Lawrence Country Club. Brahler's first tee shot went in a pond, but her second shot landed in the hole, so she actually recorded a par three with the two-stroke penalty. Witnesses were Grace Brahler, Marcia Kerr and Bob Kerr.

¢ Red Dog Run: The Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence annual Red Dog Run will be at 8 a.m. Aug. 9 on the Kansas River trails. For information on the four-mile run or two-mile stroll, go to or call 841-5672.

¢ LHS Fall Sports: An informational meeting for athletes interested in Lawrence High fall sports will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in the LHS Auditorium. Deadline for turning in athletic forms is Aug. 15.

¢ Hummers Trials: Lawrence Hummers fastpitch will conduct tryouts on Sunday at Holcom Complex - U-10 at 3 p.m. and U-12 at 4 p.m. For information, call Marci Stanwix at 331-6731.

¢ Phenix Trials: Lawrence Phenix fastpitch will conduct tryouts on Aug. 9 at Holcom Complex - U-8 and U-10 at 9 a.m., U-12 at 11:30 a.m. and U-14, U-16 and U-18 at 2 p.m. Registration will begin 30 minutes earlier in each age group. For information, go to or call Mike Riling at 841-4700.

¢ Berry hole-in-one: Wade Berry used a pitching wedge to fire a hole-in-one on the 125-yard third hole Friday at Eagle Bend. Joel Berry witnessed the ace.

¢ Hole-in-one: Galen Smith recorded a hole-in-one Saturday at Eagle Bend Golf Course in Lawrence. Smith, who recorded the ace on hole No. 3, used a 6-iron and was witnessed by John Emerson and Jeff Nus.

¢ Golf results: Chad Welter won the Jayhawk Golf Club tournament on Sunday at Alvamar Golf Club. Welter shot a 73, holding off Bud Stagg's 74 and Van Reichert's 75.

Mike Sierra and Bob Kocour won tournament's net results with a 67.

¢ Local swimmers third: Marianne Erikson, Lisa Gorski, Jaes Overley, Neil Salkind, and Anthon Thompson took third place on July 19th in the 5x5k relay at the Inaugural United States Masters Swimming 25k Open Water National Championships in Noblesville, Ind.

¢ Hole-in-one: Dave Evans recorded a hole-in-one Tuesday at Lawrence Country Club. Evans, who recorded the ace on the 147-yard hole No. 11, used a 9-iron. It was witnessed by Mark Callahan.
