A severe thunderstorm watch for Douglas County was canceled about 9:30 p.m. Saturday as skies cleared after storms earlier in the day.
Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist, said in the span of 23 minutes, Lawrence Municipal Airport received .81 of an inch of rain and had also reported wind gusts of 55 mph at 7:20 p.m. Saturday.
Schack said she also received reports of penny and nickel sized hail in the area.
There is a slight chance for thunderstorms across the area Sunday morning and afternoon. Strong winds and heavy rains are expected to be the main threats, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.
