Peoples Bank names new chairman

Peoples Bank has a new chairman.

Phil Hudson, a bank consultant in Salt Lake City, Utah, takes over for Wint Winter Sr., who remains chairman emeritus and continues working out of the same Ottawa bank that he had led since the founding of Peoples National Bank & Trust in 1973.

“We’re building on Dad’s legacy with people who have the same sense of community, banking and high service,” said Wint Winter Jr., the bank’s president and CEO. “That’s what Phil brings.”

Hudson is president and CEO of Aspen Consulting Group Inc., which provides marketing and sales assistance to community and regional banks. He previously served 16 years as executive vice president for First Security Corp., which had 315 branches before merging with Wells Fargo Bank in 2000.

Peoples Bank has 15 locations in Kansas and New Mexico, including three in Lawrence.
