Five for Francis: Carol Francis of Lawrence won five gold medals in her senior age group at the Sunflower State Games Sunday in Topeka. Francis won the 50 and 100 freestyle, the 50 and 100 breaststroke and the 50 backstroke.

Kerr Hole-in-One: Bob Kerr used a 6-iron to ace the 142-yard No. 11 hole Sunday at Lawrence Country Club. Marcia Kerr was the witness.

Roberts Wins: Conrad Roberts fired a two-under 70 and captured the Jayhawk Golf Club weekly tournament Sunday at Alvamar. Chad Welter was runner-up with a 71 and Van Reichert third at 76. In net scoring, Kent Hodgson was low with a 69, followed by Curt Anderson and Mike Hertling, each with a 70. At the halfway point of the season, Drew Walters is the leader with 151 points, followed by Bud Stagg 148, Reichert 145, Jeff Miller 142 and Roberts 134.
