Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for July 21, 1908: “The large crowd which gathered at the depot this morning to see the circus unload was not composed alone of eager boys but of all sorts and conditions of people. All enjoyed watching the splendid system and discipline with which the work for the Barnum and Bailey Circus was done to set up for one of the great shows on the earth. There then were five bands, hundreds of horses and many wild animals in the parade leading up to the opening of the show on the grounds in South Lawrence this afternoon.”
