Kansas University junior-to-be Patrick Roth advanced to the finals of the 98th Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship on Saturday at Wichita Country Club.
The 36-hole final will be held at 7:30 a.m. today. Roth, a Prairie Village native, will face Cameron Bishop, a former Wichita State University golfer.
Roth defeated Kenneth Wright, 1-up, in the quarterfinals, then defeated Aaron Sheaks, 2-and-1, in the semifinals.
Former KU golfer Gary Woodland took the Kansas Amateur Match Play crown last year and in 2005. The only other KU golfer to ever win two Kansas Amateur Championships was PGA Tour player Matt Gogel, in 1991 and 1992.
