Douglas County FCE is sponsoring an educational motor coach tour to Cherokee and Crawford counties in southeast Kansas to visit the Big Brutus site and museum, Pittsburg State University Veterans Memorial Amphitheater, Miner’s Memorial, Historic Hotel Stilwell, Frontenac Bakery and Scotty’s Classic Car Museum in Arma.

The tour will be Oct. 1. Registration must be received by Aug. 27. The tour is open to all. For additional information call, Alice Eisele at 843-7515.

Clinton Eagles 4-H club met June 23 at the Lieber-Hoyt residence. Kahlyn Heine, president, called the meeting to order. Connor Shuck and Amanda Snodgrass led the club in singing the “Frog Song.” Roll call was answered by “What is your favorite ice cream flavor?” Dieker read a communication from Sandy Gilit thanking the club for its help in the cleanup at Rockhaven horse trails. Dustin Hoyt reported the club’s finances. Lanaea Heine, community leader, talked about Bromelsick and Dreher Memorial volunteers, camp reimbursement, fair pre-enrollment, fair books, fair sign-up sheets, livestock drug withdrawal forms, concession stand discount tickets, 4-H tabloid, and the Douglas County 4-H Web site. Charlie Garzillo, poultry leader, gave a reminder of the blood testing for those participating in the poultry project. Kim Hubbell, rabbit leader, talked about a rabbit tattoo meeting. Kristi Wempe, clothing leader, told the club about modeling for the fair. Rod Heine, swine leader, talked about the importance of cleaning pens. The club voted to have an ad in the 4-H tabloid. Kirstyn Heine, Delaney Dieker, Emory Hubbell, Piper Hubbell, Maddy Goscha, Aubrey Goscha, Darian Barr and Amanda Coatney presented their camp experiences. The next meeting will be the club tour on Sunday followed by a potluck at the Diekers’.
