City Manager Ray Wells submitted to the city commission a proposed 1969 budget calling for a decrease of 0.62 of a mill in the levy, about a 2 percent reduction from the current levy of 35.479 mills.
The city manager also asked the commission to place on first reading an ordinance calling for a Nov. 5 election on a $10 motor vehicle tax to boost the local treasury. He said the tax would affect far more people than just permanent residents and would cause students to help the city coffers.
