McLouth catcher receives honor

McLouth High softball player Kendall Patterson recently received an honorable mention nod on the 2008 Louisville Slugger/NFCA High School All-American team.

The MHS senior-to-be was named the Journal-World All-Area Softball Player of the Year and was one of three Kansas athletes to earn mention on the national team.

Patterson, a catcher, led McLouth to a 22-1 season and a third-place finish at the Class 3A state tournament. That run included the first state tournament victories in school history.

For the season, Patterson hit .810 and was retired just 10 times in 68 at-bats.

She already has committed to play college softball at Kansas University.
