Former Relays director traveling to Olympics

Former Kansas Relays meet director Tim Weaver, a manager on international track and field teams for five years, was selected for that same role on the United States team staff for the 2008 Olympic Games next month in Beijing.

The Olympic staff is made up of coaches and managers, and Weaver will be one of the managers that will help both the men’s and women’s track teams get ready for competition.

Weaver spent 11 seasons at Kansas, working five years as Events and Alumni Director for the track and field program. He was the meet director for KU’s home cross country and all track and field meets, including the Kansas Relays. Weaver also served as a track and field assistant coach and worked with multi-event athletes, throwers, sprinters and hurdlers for the KU men and women.

“Without my time at KU, this Olympic experience would never have happened for me,” Weaver said. “I will always see a bit of crimson and blue whenever I’m wearing red, white and blue.”
