Advance voting for primary begins

About 40 people cast their ballots Wednesday at the Douglas County Courthouse.

Advance voting began in Kansas for the Aug. 5 primary election. Voters are narrowing down the general election candidate list for Congress, State Board of Education and County Commission.

Several people who filled out their ballots Wednesday said they wanted to avoid long lines on Election Day.

Voters have until Monday to register to vote in the August primary. The clerk’s office will remain open until 7 p.m. that day.
