KU Hospital ranks in top 50 for heart care

Kansas University Hospital ranks among the top 50 heart hospitals in the country, according to the new U.S. News and World Report.

The list of hospitals, released Thursday night, placed KU Hospital 35th of 50, down five spots from last year’s list. According to a prepared statement from KU Hospital, this ranking makes KU Hospital the highest-ranked heart hospital in the area.

“For the second consecutive year, our remarkably low mortality rate led to this national recognition,” CEO Bob Page said in the statement. “This is truly a tribute to the physicians, nurses and other health professionals on the heart team.”

St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., ranked 37th.
