Roberts Titlist: Conrad Roberts fired a 3-under-par 69 and won the Jayhawk Golf Club’s weekly tournament Sunday at Alvamar. Bob Bezek was runner-up with a 72 and Mark Terranova third at 73. In net scoring, Brent Mertz was low with a 67. Tom Dennis and Charles Pauls each netted a 68.

¢ Rebels Third at State: Kansas Rebels U-13 baseball finished third in the USSSA State Tournament last weekend in Gardner. Team members are Jacob Caldwell, Drew Green, Drake Hofer, Rigby McClure, Kyle McFarland, Cody Scott, Stan Skwarlo, Cody Stanclift, Brad Strauss, CJ Stuever and Shane Willoughby. ¢ LHS Fall Sports: An informational meeting for athletes interested in Lawrence High fall sports will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 12 in the LHS Auditorium. The deadline for turning in athletic forms is Aug. 15.

¢ Phenix Second at State: Lawrence Phenix-Fyler U-18 softball finished second in the NAFA State Tournament last weekend. Taylor Simmons went 7-for-12 at the plate and fanned 21 in 18 innings pitched. Dana Kramer had four hits and scored four runs for the Phenix (23-12).
