Miami – Alfredo Amezaga hit a go-ahead, two-run home run in seventh inning for Florida after a 11â2-hour rain delay to lead Florida.

It was just the second home run of the season for Amezaga, who has 11 for his career.

Phillies 7, Braves 3

Atlanta – Ryan Howard hit a three-run homer, and Pat Burrell added his second homer of the series for Philadelphia.

The Phillies improved to 5-0 in Atlanta this season and 7-1 overall in the season series.

Dodgers 4, Astros 1

Houston – Hiroki Kuroda threw seven shutout innings after coming off the disabled list, and Jeff Kent had a pair of RBI doubles for Los Angeles.

Kuroda (4-6) allowed five hits with one strikeout and looked strong in his first start since going on the DL on June 18 due to tendinitis in his right shoulder.

Rockies 8, Padres 1

Denver – Garrett Atkins, Troy Tulowitzki and Yorvit Torrealba homered to help Colorado beat San Diego.

Cardinals 8, Mets 7

St. Louis – Troy Glaus’ second homer of the game with two outs in the ninth won it for St. Louis, an inning after pinch-hitter Chris Duncan’s two-run shot tied the game.

Brewers 4, Diamondbacks 3

Phoenix – Mike Cameron singled home Russell Branyan with one out in the top of the ninth to lift the Brewers to victory.

Cubs 6, Giants 5

San Francisco – Mike Fontenot hit a tiebreaking home run in the eighth inning for the Cubs, who have scored 16 runs in the first three games of the four-game series against San Francisco.
