Snow tapers off

System moves south, trace to half-inch expected in Lawrence area

Light bursts of snow will be about all that area residents can expect today as the heaviest snow will stay along the Oklahoma and Kansas state line. A snow advisory is in effect for Douglas County until 6 p.m.

The snow that moved through this morning left little accumulation across northeast Kansas. Residents can expect to see some light bands of snow move through into the afternoon, but accumulations will be less than half an inch to a trace.

This latest weather system should continue to weaken on its current southerly track and move into southern and central Missouri through the afternoon today. Winds between 15 and 25 mph with temperatures dropping to the high teens are expected for the evening commute.
