KU swimmers clip Iowa

? Junior co-captain Danielle Herrmann and junior Maria Mayrovich each recorded three event victories as the Kansas Unviersity’s swimming and diving team defeated Iowa, 144-89, Saturday at the Missouri Aquatics Center Saturday. KU improved its record to 6-2 (1-1 Big 12).

KU started the meet strong, winning the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Lauren Bonfe, Herrmann, Ashley Leidigh and Mayrovich finished with a time of 1:44.14. Sophomore Ashley Robinson won the 1000-yard freestyle (10:05.39) and finished second in the 500-yard free (4:57.79), while Emily Lanteigne finished second in the 200-yard free (1:50.04).

Mayrovich repeated in the 50 and 100-yard free races, finishing first in both, with times of 23.47 and 50.47, respectively, while Herrmann added victories in the 200-yard IM (2:04.30) and 200-yard breast (2:18.53). Leidigh’s time of 2:04.49, was good for a fourth-place finish in the butterfly.

Senior Terri Schramka rounded out the day in swimming for KU, finishing third in the 200-yard backstroke.
