Veritas takes two from Heritage

? Veritas Christian School’s fullcourt press proved pivotal in a 52-28 basketball rout of Heritage Christian on Friday night.

“We were able to force a fair amount of turnovers. We didn’t shoot that well. In the end the defense is what propelled us to a sizeable win,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said.

Taylor Zook scored 15 points and Nate Scott 13 for Veritas (6-8).

“We wanted to push the ball, and at the start of the third quarter we started to break loose,” Bennett said. “Taylor Zook shot the ball well for us.”

Veritas girls 56, Heritage Christian 10

Veritas had three girls finish with more points individually, than its opponent.

Melissa Hardee and Kristie Tiegreen led the Eagles (10-4, 4-1) with 14 points each. Marteka Carlton finished in double-digits, as well, with 12 points.

“I was really encouraged with our passing,” Veritas coach Kevin Shelton said. “We passed it very well to the open man and they were really unselfish with Hardee running the offense very well tonight.”
