The Douglas County Family and Community Education Council met Jan. 7 in Deal Six Auditorium at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. Susan Krumm, family and consumer science agent, reported the P.A.T.H. program will be Feb. 19 to March 13 at the East Lawrence Center.

Krumm also reported Walk Kansas will be March 9 to May 3. For more information, call 843-7058.

New master food volunteer training will start June 3.

The next Red Cross blood drive will be Feb. 7 at First Christian Church and the Vinland FCE will furnish the cookies.

The council voted to use “Books … The Other Channel” program for the FCE units’ county project this year.

Spring Tea is April 18 and the date for Fall Festival is Oct. 31.

Officers for 2008 were installed by outgoing president Margaret Fuston. They are Judy Wulfkuhl, president; Esther Smith, vice president; Genny Hunsinger, secretary; Charlene Winter, treasurer; Darlene Bright, public relations; and Pauline Nunemaker, historian.

The next council meeting will be March 3.
