Braxton Lane Nottingham, Lawrence, was named to the President’s Honor Roll for the Fall 2007 semester at Oklahoma State University.
Nottingham, a 2006 graduate of Baldwin High School, earned a grade-point average of 4.0.
¢Ashley Taylor and Perry Morrow, both of Lawrence, received All-A Scholastic Honors for the fall 2007 semester at Pittsburg State University. They received a grade-point average of 4.0.
Curtis Wakeman, Felicia Freeman, Kate Scaletty, Katelyn Ragland, Marissa Ballard and Raymond Finch, all of Lawrence, and Kelsey Mullis, Baldwin City, received Dean’s Scholastic Honors for the semester. They received a grade-point average of at least 3.60.
¢Justin and Eryn Ridinger, Eudora, announce the birth of their son, Trenton Ahren Ridinger, born Jan. 14, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Trenton has a brother, Camden, 3.
His maternal grandparents are Clifford and Verna Downing, Lawrence. Paternal grandparents are Jerry and Carol Ridinger, Berryton
His great-grandparents are Vernon and Edith Oelsch-laeger, Lawrence.
¢ Josh DeBoy and Rachael Nicole Moore DeBoy, Cibolo, Texas, announce the birth of their son, Jackson Nathaniel DeBoy, born Dec. 28, 2007, in San Antonio.
Jackson has a sister, Summer Nicole, 2.
His maternal grandparents are Scott and Sheryl Moore, Lawrence. His paternal grandparents are Tim and Lisa DeBoy, Lewisville, Colo., and Paul and Linda Vesperry, Portland, Ind.
Great-grandparents are Link and Sue Hughes, Perry, Ray and Lorraine Mohl, Mandan, N.D., and Joan Moore, Dodge City.
¢Terri Durgan, Lawrence, has achieved National Board Certification through a program at Emporia State University.
Certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards is the highest credential in the teaching profession. The program for providing professional support for the certification has been available at ESU since 1993.
¢Cordley School won the second place trophy in the K-5 section of the Rockhurst High School Chess tournament on Jan. 19 in Kansas City, Mo. Individually, top Lawrence finishers were Alan Shi, Southwest Junior High School, second in K-12; and Eddie Wilson, Cordley School, third in K-8.
Other Lawrence medal winners were: K-8, Adriana Perez-Conesa, SWJH, ninth; Darren Rawlings, Wakarusa Valley School, 20th. In K-5: Roscoe Bradt, Cordley, eighth; Robert Newman, Wakarusa Valley, ninth; McCarthy Fitch, Cordley, 10th; Ting-Ting Shi, Quail Run School, 12th; and George Wedge, Cordley, 13th.
¢Central Junior High School has announced the winners for the Martin Luther King Jr. essay contest.
The grand champion was Danielle Galloway, ninth grade.
Ninth-grade award winners were Tess Frydman and Alexandra Guinzbourg; eighth-grade award winners were Gaby Unfred and Madeline Backus; and seventh-grade award winners were Annie Wildgen and Sally Spurgeon.
Ninth-grade finalists were Cassandra Barrett, Beckett Bergstrom, Grace Bova, Grace Elizabeth Clark, Nick Conrad, Rowan Cook, Luke Cortese, Emily DeMaranville, Liza Farr, Alec Fitzgerald, Toni Flint, Alyson Frydman, Zoey Hearn Feldman, Lena Hosking, Nishta Long-Dasta, Jake McClanahan, Claire Murphy-Beach, Alex Scott, Chloe Sheridan, Carmel Sivron, Katy Thellman, Chase Westheffer and Shanda Wright.
Eighth-grade finalists were Miriam Ali, Chesney Buck, Sarah Chavez, Erica Crandon, Laura Falkenstien, Evelyn Mandell, Maria Watson, Evan Weisgrau and Baha White.
Seventh-grade finalists were Catherine Bell, Maddie Bell, Jacob Breyne, Rich Brown, Katy Davis, Kailee Dudley, Liseth Galloway, Ella Gore, Alex Harper-Sanchez, Charles Hopkins, Sophie Tate, Shade Tsosie and Sydney Watson.
¢Kayla Frost, Lawrence, was named to the Dean’s List for grades achieved during the fall 2007 semester at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. She has now made the list for three consecutive semesters.
Frost, a junior, was also inducted into the Lambda Pi Eta National Communications Honor Society. She is majoring in communications and television production.
¢Collin Schmidt, Lawrence, graduated summa cum laude from Iowa State Universityin Ames, Iowa, on Dec. 14 with Bachelor of Science degrees in finance and accounting. He is the son of Tom and Debi Schmidt, Lawrence, and a 2003 Free State High School graduate.
¢Ripp Harrison, McLouth, was named to the Honorable Mention Honor Roll at McPherson College for the fall 2007 semester by earning a grade-point average of 3.25 to 3.54.
