Area Roundup: Tongie girls clip B-L in OT

? Christy Weller and Elizabeth Baska scored 13 points apiece as Tonganoxie tripped Basehor-Linwood, 50-44 in overtime, in high school girls basketball on Friday night.

The Chieftains were down by three to open overtime following a three by Elise Douglas, then scored nine straight points.

Tongie, which avenged a 24-point loss to B-L in the season opener, improved to 12-2 in handing B-L its first loss in 13 games.

Santa Fe Trail 45, Leavenworth Immaculata 43

Overbrook – Kelsi Wiscombe scored 14 points to propel Santa Fe Trail. SFT, which led by 12 points after three quarters, improved to 3-9.

The Chargers will play host to Perry-Lecompton on Monday.

Boys

Basehor-Linwood 54, Tonganoxie 42

Tonganoxie – Gabe Belobradjic scored nine points and Keith Wentz-Hall eight in a losing cause. Tongie (4-10) is idle until Feb. 5.

De Soto 54, Baldwin 48

De Soto – Andre Linzy scored 27 points to propel De Soto.

De Soto (8-6) will play Tuesday at Louisburg.

Ottawa 61, Louisburg 47

Ottawa – Chase Moore hit five three-pointers, setting a new Ottawa career record with 114, and the Cyclones improved to 11-3.

Moore led the way with 19 points for Ottawa, which will play host to Paola next Friday.

McLouth 47, St. Mary’s Academy 33

McLouth – Mike Rome led McLouth with 14 points, and the Bulldogs overcame a third quarter in which they were outscored 15-4.
