Geologists warned that the Kansas water supply had been dropping and might drop even more, perhaps at drastic rates, if moisture amounts did not run above average in the near future. For example, officials said the Ogallala aquifer, which feeds the wells of western Kansas, Nebraska and parts of Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma and Texas, could run dry in 40 years.
