KGA Taps Waugh: Jerry Waugh of Lawrence has been named president of the board of directors of the Kansas Golf Assn. It’s the second annual stint for the 80-year-old Waugh, who held the same position in 1987.

Among the other members of the KGA board are Dick Stuntz of Lawrence and Mike Grosdidier of Baldwin City.

HINU Cheer Camp: Haskell Indian Nations University’s cheer spirit squad will conduct a cheer camp at 9 a.m. Feb. 9 at Coffin Complex. The camp is for youths ages 3-12. Fee is $10.

All participants will perform at halftime of the HINU-York men’s basketball game Feb. 15.

Half-marathon Training: Registration is open for the TherapyWorks Lawrence Half Marathon, 5k and Mile Fun Run on April 20. The first in a series of training runs will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, starting at Coffin Complex on the HINU campus.

WIU Lands Sneegas: Lawrence’s John Sneegas has signed a baseball letter of intent with Western Illinois after spending two seasons at Highland Community College. Sneegas was a member of Free State High’s 2006 Class 6A state championship team and the Raiders’ team that played in the ’06 American Legion World Series.
