Hy-Vee offers $4 generic prescriptions

January 21, 2008

Hy-Vee stores, including those in Lawrence, are offering discount prices for a variety of generic drugs through the stores' pharmacies.

The Iowa-based grocery chain announced last week that it would offer monthly supplies of generic versions of 400 different prescription drugs for $4 per prescription.

Medicines on the list include antibiotics and drugs that treat aliments such as allergies, asthma, arthritis, diabetes, high cholesterol and digestive issues.

The program is available to all customers, regardless of insurance coverage or co-pay levels, and no special enrollment forms or cards are required, the company said.

For more information about the program, contact a Hy-Vee pharmacy or visit

FYI, you know they raised the price on all the other meds. That what the other places did that has the $4 meds.

Thanks to Wal Mart, the $4 policy is spreading to HyVee and elsewhere. Competition and free market capitalism is the way to go!
